Overview of Motivational InterviewingThis overview of the behavioral change process as well as the principles and applications of MI will be helpful to those seeking a greater understanding of this evidence based approach for improving health related outcomes.
Overview of Mental IllnessesThis training explores the common signs and symptoms of a wide range of mental illnesses. The primary focus is on observable behavior and therapeutic communication and interventions.
Enhancing Wellness for Helping ProfessionalsPreventing and Overcoming Compassion FatigueThis training enhances understanding of Compassion Fatigue and its impact on individuals who work in helping professions. Prevention and resiliency skills focusing on wellness and self-care as well as strategies for managing and recovering from Compassion Fatigue will be covered.
Team BuildingAdapted from a larger training titled TeamSTEPPS, this training improves teamwork skills such as leadership and communication to improve client/patient safety and quality of care.
Conflict Resolution and Professional BehaviorThis training familiarizes the participants with various styles and benefits of conflict resolution. Professional behavior in the healthcare setting is also reviewed in working with clients/patients and other healthcare professionals.
Assertiveness and Conflict Resolution for Healthcare ProfessionalsThis training improves communication skills, using assertiveness training skills. Improved staff communication leads to better teamwork, problem-solving and client/patient safety.
Managing Disruptive Behaviors and Workplace Violence Prevention in the Behavioral Healthcare SettingThis presentation will familiarize the participant with disruptive and/or violent behavior a in the behavioral healthcare work setting as well as the causes and predictors of it. The participant will learn early intervention strategies and leadership styles that will assist in working with clients/patients to help minimize disruptive behaviors and skills that will assist in preventing or managing violent behaviors in the healthcare setting.
Psychotropic MedicationsThis training improves understanding of psychotropic medications used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, and explores the pharmacology of common medications with a focus on dosing, adverse effects, drug monitoring, drug-drug interactions, and the role of these medications in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
Ethics, Legal Issues, and Medical Documentation for Behavioral Healthcare ProfessionalsHealthcare professionals deal with a “hodge-podge” of laws, regulations, and professional codes as well as standards that influence daily clinical practice. This course will enable professionals to understand and implement the various regulations and develop approaches for resolving legal and ethical dilemmas, with particular emphasis on issues related to medical documentation.
Stages of Development with a Focus on Aging and End of Life CareThis training will familiarize the participant with normal human developmental processes, focusing specifically on the Adult stages, and increase understanding of the aging process and its effects on physical, cognitive, psychological, and social functions. It will explore disorders that can affect adult functioning, such as dementia and delirium. This presentation will also familiarize the participant with skills needed to provide compassionate end-of-life care to patients who are approaching death.
Gender Responsive Substance Abuse TreatmentThis program describes the need for gender responsive treatment for women, for theperinatal population, and specific tools for providing care to pregnant and parenting women that suffer from addictive disorders.
